The 2026 Annual ProHill Ram Sale, held on 23 September at Peithyll, Aberystwyth delivered another strong and successful day of trading. Over 80 high‑quality, performance‑recorded rams were entered, representing Welsh Hill Type, Welsh Improved Type, Brecknock Hill Cheviot and North Country Cheviot lines.

A total of 53 registered buyers travelled from both local and distant to support the event, creating a strong trade throughout the sale. An overall average price of £905 was achieved, while 25 rams topped +£1000, underlining the strength of demand for high-quality performance-recorded stock.

The top price of the day was £2,600, achieved by a Welsh Improved Type shearling from Irwel Jones, Aberbranddu, carrying an index of £19.10 and ranking within the top 25% of the breed.

The next highest price was £1,900, achieved by a Welsh Improved Type shearling from Gareth Roberts, Cwrt, with an index of £16.32 graded in the top 25%. Close behind was another Welsh Improved Type shearling from Irwel Jones, Aberbranddu, selling for £1,800 with an index of £17.02 classed as top 25%.
