Bedwyr Jones – Gwastadanas

Join us on the 16th of August for an evening flock visit and ram viewing with Bedwyr Jones, Gwastadanas, Nant Gwynant, Caernarfon LL55 4NW

Start: 5pm

Bedwyr Jones has farmed Gwastadanas in Snowdonia alongside his family for over 20 years. He strives to ensure that his ewes are both efficient and productive, focusing on maternal traits, ease of lambing as well as good performance from poorer quality grass.

Bedwyr has used performance recording in the past and feels that it is an extremely useful tool to enable fine tuning of breeding decisions, he joined Meat Promotion Wales’ Hill Ram Scheme to record and gain more accurate knowledge of which animals are performing well in his system.

The farm has a long-standing sale of home-bred rams hosted at Gwastadanas, with around 40 sold each year. The flock visit is a fantastic opportunity to see the farm and get a better idea of the conditions under which  the ewes have to perform. Bedwyr’s rams will also be available to view and the Prohill team will be on hand to run through the performance data for the rams and helping you find out what the numbers can really mean for you.

We look forward to seeing you there.
