Carys Jones – Carreg Cyn Ffyrdd

Join us on the 11th of August for an evening flock visit and ram viewing with Carys Jones, Carreg Cyn Ffyrdd, Llangadog, Carmarthenhire SA19 6YT.

Start: 7pm

After graduating from Harper Adams University, Carys Jones returned home to manage the family farm in Carmarthenshire. Carys’ 550 improved type Welsh mountain ewes are performance recorded as part of Meat Promotion Wales’ Hill Ram Scheme.

For Carys, the ewes maternal ability and lambs ability to finish off grass is key, with the upcoming changes to farm subsidy payments, she is very aware of the need to reduce inputs on farm while maximising output. Her replacement breeding stock are selected for their performance in the relevant traits to thrive in this system.

Since starting to sell rams with performance figures, Carys has built up quite a following with customers returning year on year for her rams.

Join us at Carreg Cyn Ffyrdd for a look at the farm where the rams are born and raised. You will get a rare opportunity to see the flock as well as the rams she has available this year. Carys and the Prohill team will also be on hand to work through the figures and the genetic potential of the rams, helping you get the best ram to suit your system and achieve the outcomes you’re looking for from your flock.

We look forward to seeing you there.
