Irwel Jones – Aberbranddu

Join us on the 20th of September for an evening pre-sale ram viewing and flock visit with Irwel Jones, Aberbranddu, Llanwrda, Carmarthenshire SA19 8YE.

Start: 6pm

Irwel started performance recording his flock of Tregaron Type Welsh mountain ewes in 2001. The focus is to breed hardy, maternal ewes that are easy to manage and to produce lambs that thrive in a grass and forage system. The farm has been involved in several projects over the years, focusing on grassland management and animal health.

Irwel is a keen stockman who has sold rams for a number of years at local breed sales, the performance figures are an additional tool for selection, giving his customers added assurance of his rams abilities. This year, a total of 32 yearling rams from Aberbranddu are available for sale, 11 of which will be available at the Prohill sale in Aberystwyth and the rest entered for a ram sale in Tregaron or sold directly from the farm.

The pre-sale ram viewing is a great opportunity to see the farm where the rams are reared and to get an understanding of the farm system from the man himself. The rams will also be available to view, accompanied by their performance figures. Irwel and the Prohill team will be on hand for a chat and to run through any of the data, helping you make sense of the numbers and giving you a better understanding of how to select a ram that suits your needs and your system.

We look forward to seeing you there.
